If only I knew how to Reupholster!

There are just too many chairs in this world that I walk away from, that need a serious reupholsterer (is that a word?).  I need to be one of those.

Business card, coming soon!

I'm thinking JUNK GIRL.  It fits.

Long time...no blog.

Well, the Chelan house is finished...Arizona finished... and I am back to blogging!  Also, got my creative juices flowing again and working at a great new store in town called Patina.  Local artists and pickers having some fun!  Thank goodness for Patina...gives me new life!  I'll post photos of the Arizona house as soon as I get back there to take them.  They are on my PC there and I'm not bright enough to know how to copy photos and transfer them to another computer.  Seriously, I'm not.  So, anyway, back to blogging!  And picking!  Here's what I just missed out on today at the Chelan Habitat for Humanity!  $100 for the entire set, including the double adirondack glider.  Now, mind you, I would have painted the set - so I guess I should be grateful that another "project" was thwarted.

Great accent piece!

Bellevue Goodwill.  I didn't grab it, now it's gone.  Will I EVER learn my own lessons?!!

Yellow is back!

You're thinking out-dated?  I'm thinking fabulous!!  $79, Bellevue Goodwill.  Married with some aqua in a room, think "beachy" coastal cottage!

Recent Finds - Hmmm interesting?

Stunning, not sure what it is, but LOVE it!  May have had a lid at some point?  Regardless, would be gorgeous just sitting on a table, or make it a vase.  I'm guessing 16-18" diameter.  Mercury glass look.  A whopping $3.99 at the Seattle Goodwill.  I left it there...am regretting that.

This is kind of weird, kind of cool.  Anyway, it surely goes in a boy's room or man cave!  And for $5.99 I think it makes a statement.  Seattle Salvation Army.

This "beachy" counter height chair caught my eye at the Seattle Goodwill.

Not my style but a substantial piece at the Bellevue Goodwill for $399

The Seattle Goodwill is stacking their lamp shades!  $3.99, that's a bargain!

The First Straw Hat

Why name my blog Straw Hats and Beach Bags?  Well because those two items reflect my design philosophy - casual, comfortable and fun.  Also because it seems that I cannot recall a time when I have been able to restrain myself from purchasing the random straw hat or beach bag.  I have oodles and oodles of both!  I justify the beach bag purchases by calling them storage bins.  The photo above is one of my first straw hat purchases sitting proudly on my daughter's little head some 14 years ago.  Those straw hats may be credited toward saving my life one day, as I plan to use them in the years ahead to protect my pale, German skin from the sun.  Unfortunately being raised in Hawaii and surfing from sun up to sun down has taken it's toll, but in my wise old years ahead I plan to hide under a hat.  And I might as well make it a big, floppy straw hat!  The sunscreen will be in my beach bag!  In the meantime, I am decorating our next house with a coastal theme and will surely need more hats and beach bags....
